How to apply for a stallion nomination with Breedr

Breedr is an online platform where horse breeders can connect and make bookings for stallions. In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of searching for a stallion, negotiating a deal, and applying for a nomination on Breedr.

Step 1: Sign up or Sign In

To get started, head to ‘breedr.horse’ and click on the ‘Breeder/Mare Owner’ tab. If you're a first-time user, you'll need to sign up for an account by clicking ‘Sign Up Now’. Otherwise, enter your username and password to sign into your own profile.

Step 2: Create a Mare Portfolio

Once you're signed in, you'll see your mare portfolio. If you're a first-time user, you'll need to add a mare to your portfolio. Once you've added your mare, you can start booking and applying for a nomination.

Step 3: Search and Book

To search for a stallion, switch from the account tab over to the book tab. This will take you to the stallion search function, where you can search by price, country, stud, or individual stallions. Choose the stallion you're interested in, for example, Star Bucks.
Once you've selected the stallion, you'll see the booking sheet for Star Bucks. Here, you can look at the profile of Star Bucks and see his booking availability during the season.
To apply for a nomination, click on a timeslot and pick the mare from the drop-down menu. You can pick an existing mare, create a new profile or make the booking under ‘Mare TBC’ and negotiate the name of that mare later on, whilst still securing the nomination to that stallion.
Next, negotiate the price with the stud manager. You can request a foal share or add any other notes to the stud, which will go through as part of the nomination. Once you've negotiated the deal, click to confirm that you're the managing owner and complete the booking.

Step 4: Check Your Dashboard

Once you've made your booking, you can click on the account tab and check your current bookings dashboard. You'll see your booking listed under your mare's name, and its status.
That's it! You've successfully searched for a stallion, negotiated a deal, and applied for a nomination on Breedr. We hope you found this tutorial helpful.
